Hi! My name is Maci!
I’m a 1 to 2-year-old mixed breed who is ready for a new rescued life. I’m not sure why, but I’ve had a hard time finding the right home.
I was rescued by TRU Rescue after my first owner decided she could no longer care for me. I had a home with kids who I loved and still think about. I hope they are doing well.
I was then adopted by another family, and renamed Penny. I thought this new family would be my forever, but they unfortunately weren’t my forever either. I don’t know what I did wrong and everyone says it isn’t my fault, but it is still very confusing.
I gained some weight at my last home and the vet says I am now overweight at around 65 lbs. I’m at the kennel waiting for a foster (or better yet, my real forever family), so I am able to get some exercise but not as much as I’d like to lose the extra weight.
I’m a bit unsure of myself with all the changes, but I trust my people and look to them for security and safety. It may take me some time to warm up, but once I do I give my heart fully and just want to love. Can you give me a chance at a new life and happily FUREVER after??
Quick Facts About Me:
Hi! My name is AURORA!
I am a 6-to-7-month old lab mix who is so happy and grateful for my new rescued life. I spent the first months of my life chained up or in a kennel before TRU Rescue took me in. Now I am with an awesome foster family that is teaching me about love and being a dog!
I love my foster dog siblings and love to play. I also love kids and all people, but am still learning how to control my strength. My foster mom says I am extremely smart and could learn anything I want! I’m learning to walk on a leash without pulling, and so far a harness works best for me.
I love hard toys, especially shank bones and antlers. I’m good at meal time and will leave others food alone–unless they walk away, of course, because then I will finish it for them so they don’t get in trouble!
I’m working hard to be the best pup I can be! I can’t wait to meet my forever family and continue to learn all about being a dog with them!
Want to meet me?! I’d love to meet you!! Apply here!

Meet the newest TRU Rescue doggo!
Frankie was listed as ‘for sale’ at a local yard sale with a price tag attached to him. 😳 We couldn’t let him be sold off like that so one of our amazing volunteers rescued him and he is now a member of the TRU family.
Thank goodness our volunteer was at the right place at the right time! We do not want to even imagine how this story might have ended if Frankie had fallen into the wrong hands. Frankie is safe & sound and up for adoption through TRU Rescue.
Frankie is a Dachshund, neutered, approximately 3 years old and weighs about 12 lbs. TRU Rescue will be sure Frankie is current on all vaccines. He is great with other dogs and will need time to warm up to his new family 💙 TRU Rescue will get Frankie to the vet to make sure he is in tip-top shape. Donations to help with his veterinary visit are greatly appreciated!

Meet Ember! This adorable little girl just arrived in Maryland from Louisiana. She’s a bundle of love and looking for a home! Apply to meet her today!
Quick Facts About Ember:
Wendy girl is a lovely dog. She is a 3- to 4-year-old bully mix who came from a high-kill shelter in North Carolina. You may remember Wendy from last year, as we put out a desperate plea for help because Wendy was pregnant and at eminent risk of euthanasia. With the help of Tanner’s Endless Love and many amazing volunteers and fosters, TRU Rescue was able to pull Wendy out of the shelter and transport her to Maryland to have her puppies. She had 4 beautiful puppies, all of whom have been successfully adopted! Wendy did not have the easiest start to her life, but she has overcome a lot and is now ready for adoption thanks to the love and support of so many, starting with her amazing foster!
Though we can’t know for sure, we believe Wendy was used as a breeder. She has a large scar on her head, a visible reminder of previous trauma she endured. Unfortunately, Wendy cannot tell us what happened, but her vet believes a sharp object such as a machete or axe was likely used to make this scar. Though it has completely healed, we should never forget the harsh reality that Wendy lived through in her early years.
When Wendy first came to Maryland she was so scared she wouldn’t even walk. Her foster had to carry her out to go potty. Thanks to her foster’s love and attention, Wendy is a whole new dog! She loves to play with plush toys, especially those with squeakers! She is great with other dogs and is currently fostered with 2 small dogs. Wendy is also good with cats. Wendy does not do well when kenneled. She will break out or hurt herself trying. Please keep this in mind when considering her for your family.
Wendy loves to sleep on your couch and to learn everyday about new things. She is still very shy around strangers but with time warms up. She is great at letting you know someone is at your door but is nice and quiet otherwise. That is, until it is playtime, of course! Wendy is also good with children, but a home with children over the age of 2 years is probably best due to her unknown background.
After being with her foster for the last 4 months she is starting to jump into bed with her, but won’t stay long. She is still learning about all the perks of being a true pet! Our dream is for Wendy to learn about all the perks of being a pet in a loving forever home with a family of her own. Is that you? Apply to meet Wendy today and help her get the happy ending she so very much deserves!
Meet Champagne! A sweet, 4-year-old bully mix who found herself in a NC shelter, pregnant and alone. Thanks to a generous and kind foster, Champagne was able to give birth to 7 puppies in the comfort of a custom-built birthing suite!
Now in Maryland and with most of her puppies adopted into loving homes, she longs for a day when SHE can be the baby of the house and be spoiled like all dogs should! She is a bit shy, but warms up to people with time and shows your her quirky and funny side! She is also good with cats 🐈.
Champagne has Heartworm Disease and will begin treatment soon. She will need a caring adopter who can help her through 3 to 4 months of treatment. Due to the risk of serious complications with treatment, Champagne will need to be exercise limited throughout her treatment. Luckily, once treatment is over, most dogs recover completely and live happy healthy lives!
Are you the forever person she’s been waiting for? She has nothing but love to give, and can’t wait to meet you! Apply HERE today!

Meet Mable! This sweet older girl was found wandering the streets with a “volleyball sized” growth on her side. She was taken to the pound where they surgically removed it, weighing in at 3.5 pounds. She is shepherd mix and thought to be at least 6 years of age.
After her surgery, Mable spent 5 months in the shelter. FIVE months of being passed up every single day. FIVE months of not being chosen or being good enough. Thanks to the generosity of our fosters, we were able to step in and commit to finding her FUREVER home from the comfort of a warm and loving foster home!
Mabel’s foster says she is the absolute PERFECT dog. She is great on leash, knows commands, and is potty trained. She is great with kids, cats, and dogs. She is super snuggly and really just looking for a soft place to land. Her face is perfect to kiss and after all she’s been through, she deserves all the smooches in the world! 🐾❤️
Warren is a special 2-year-old Retriever mix from Louisiana. He weighs about 30 lbs and is in need of some TLC. He just arrived to Maryland this weekend and is battling a bit of a cold. Can you give Warren the happily FUREVER after that he deserves?!❤️🐾

This beautiful girl has been through a lot, but the kindness of strangers has led her to us. Lottie is about 2 years old and was living as a stray in rural Louisiana. A kind stranger saw her and noticed she was covered in ticks and generally in pain. He went to the local pet store where another kind stranger listened to his story about Lottie and committed to help her. This stranger, a teacher working part-time at the pet store, drove out to where Lottie was and was immediately greeted by her. She took Lottie to the emergency vet and later to her own vet and home. Lottie was severely dehydrated, anemic, and had a serious ear infection that started affecting her teeth. Despite the obvious pain and discomfort Lottie was in, she never missed a beat or an opportunity to show her love for everyone. This kind and amazing teacher fostered Lottie and nursed her back to health despite living in a small house with dogs of her own and a limited budget. She no doubt saved Lottie’s life and all she asks is that we help Lottie find her forever home and family!
Lottie loves people and is great with kids and cats. She can be dog selective, but with proper introduction makes great dog friends!
